Our Origin

The Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio (MMI) can be traced to the formation of Ibibio Union in 1928. Due to unfavorable socio-political climate of the then Eastern Nigeria, for sixty years, the MMI was unable to play its rightful role in championing the cause of the Ibibio nationals. On the creation of Cross River State, the Ibibio Youths re-organized MMI in Calabar - Nigeria on 1 August 1987. The purpose of the reorganization was to strengthen MMI to be able to serve the people of that part of the Cross River State then commonly referred to as the mainland. That mainland became Akwa Ibom State in 1987. With the creation of Akwa Ibom State, the Headquarters of MMI was moved to Uyo - Nigeria.

Since the inception of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, the first Grand Patron was Sir, Justice Udo Udoma, followed by Chief Dr. Clement Isong. The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero is an Adviser/Patron of the organization. The current Grand Patron of Mboho is the distinguished Akparawa, Chief, Air Marshall Nsikak Eduok (Rtd).

The founding President of Mboho was Late Akpara Anietie Ekong. The past Presidents are: Mme Mkparawa, Sir Valentine Atah, Okon Baddey Imeh, Elder Udo Sam Umoatan and Dr. Okon J. Emah, (Prince) Godwin Ntuk Udeh. The Current President is Akparawa Otuekong Sylvester Akpan.
